So you’ve decided to adopt...what do you do first? The first step to adopting is to find a friendly face (or faces!) on our website that you would like to meet and then filling out an application online or in person. After you fill out our application, you will be contacted by our Adoptions Coordinator to set up an appointment within 24-48 hours regarding the dog(s) you would like to meet. The preferred method of meeting our adoptable dogs is through appointment, but we will facilitate walk-ins whenever possible.

I made an appointment; what should I expect?

At the time of your appointment, we ask that the adopter bring all members of their family (human-only please!) that will be interacting with the dog on a daily basis. We take pride in our close relationships with our adopters and like to start that relationship from day one. During your appointment, the Adoptions Coordinator and staff would give you a comprehensive profile for each individual dog and the next steps in the adoptions process. Some dogs, due to their behavioral history, personality or health status may require more than one visit. For some of our Diamonds in the Ruff (click here to learn more), interested adopters would learn the fantastic training they have already started (and in some cases are already completed!) while waiting for their forever home.

What if there are other four-legged friends in the home?

If the adopter(s) are adding a second, third or fourth canine member to the family, we would do an initial introduction at the shelter and then a subsequent home visit to ensure that the new family will live happily ever after.

I am in LOVE with the dog I met; when can I take them home?

If the potential adopter(s) decide that they would like to proceed with the adoption, our Adoptions Coordinator would finalize your application by checking references and preparing the adoptions paperwork.

At the time of adoption, all adopters receive the complete original medical paperwork and records of their new four-legged friend, as well as some helpful behavior packets tailored to each individual pet. All of our dogs are fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped at the time of adoption.

We are open for adoptions Monday-Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM.
