Adoption FAQs

Common Questions:

When you pay an adoption fee, you do much more than just bring home a new furry family member. Adoption fees go directly toward the care, feeding, and medical needs of our dogs, helping us find them their dream forever homes. It’s like a heartwarming pay-it-forward for future pups in need!

Adopt-A-Dog is not funded by any municipal sources—all of our resources come from generous folks like you who understand the value of giving a loving home to a dog in need. Our adoption fees are listed below:

  • Puppies (up to 1 Year Old) – $550
  • Young Adults (1 Year to 4 Years Old) – $475
  • Adults (4 Years to 7 Years Old) – $400
  • Seniors (Age 7 and Older) – $300

The first step to adopting from Adopt-A-Dog is to find a friendly face (or faces!) on our website that you would like to meet. The next step is to fill out our brief adoption questionnaire. After you fill out our questionnaire, you will be contacted by our Adoptions Coordinator. The preferred method of meeting our adoptable dogs is through appointment, but we will facilitate walk-ins whenever possible.

We are here caring for our animals 7 days a week. An appointment is highly recommended to ensure that the dogs you want to meet are at the shelter and that we have available adoption staff to serve you. However, we do welcome walk-ins most days from 12:00pm – 4:00pm.

Yes! We almost always have puppies at the shelter. The population of dogs we house is constantly changing. Come stop by and meet all of our adoptables!

We are always looking for new volunteers to join our team.  We have many volunteer opportunities available to socialize and spend time with the dogs, for more information please visit our Volunteer Opportunities page.

At Adopt-A-Dog, we are not just a shelter, we’re a compassionate community dedicated to making a positive impact. When it comes to rehoming dogs, we stand as a reliable resource for our local community, collaborating with both nearby municipal shelters and those beyond our state lines. Our heartfelt partnerships extend to southern shelters, where the plight of homeless pets is a significant challenge. Join us in transforming lives, one adoption at a time. Embrace the joy of welcoming a furry friend into your home with Adopt-A-Dog!
